TVNZ and NZ On Air are pleased to announce that the hit local drama Go Girls will be back for a third series.
The popular TV2 drama has seen huge audience growth this season and has won $6,702,000 in funding from NZ On Air for a further 13 episodes.
Jeff Latch, Head of TV ONE and TV2 says, “Go Girls has consistently dominated its timeslot on Thursday nights and we believe the audience will be as delighted as we are that Kevin and his crew will be back for a further series.”
Jane Wrightson, Chief Executive of NZ On Air says, “it is fantastic when local drama series attract and grow an audience in the way that Go Girls has. Local drama has been particularly strong in the last couple of years and NZ On Air is pleased to be able to support Go Girls in another series.”
Chris Bailey, Managing Director of South Pacific Pictures says “We are delighted to be making a third series of Go Girls and thrilled that the audience love the show as much as we do.”
Production on the third series will commence later in the year and it will screen on TV2 in 2011.
New Zealanders can catch the second series of Go Girls from Thursday March 18, 8:30pm on TV2.

Matt Whelan (plays the hapless Brad on GO GIRLS) will soon begin shooting a lead role in South Pacific Pictures’ new feature film, Girl Meets Boy.
The film is a romantic comedy/coming-of-age feature film based on the award-winning 2005 documentary Banana in a Nutshell by Roseanne Liang. Liang directs Girl Meets Boy, which she co-wrote with Angeline Loo.

Go Girls has received nominations across various categories in this year’s TV Guide Best on the Box People’s Choice Awards.
The series is up against The Cult, Outrageous Fortune, Shortland Street, Piece of My Heart and Until Proven Innocent in the Best Drama category.

Anna Hutchison (Amy) has two nominations in the Best Actress and Sexiest Woman categories.
Both Alix Bushnell (Britta) and Bronwyn Turei (Cody) have been nominated in the Rising Star category alongside Shortland Street’s Ido Drent, New Zealand’s Next Top Model finalist Ruby Higgins and InBeTween presenter Jeremy Hollis.

Go Girls has received two nominations in the 2009 Qantas Film and Television Awards.
Created by Rachel Lang and Gavin Strawhan and produced by South Pacific Pictures, Go Girls is nominated for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress (Bronwyn Bradley) and Best Original Music in General Television (Jonathan Bree).
The Qantas Film and Television Awards will be presented at an evening ceremony at the Civic Theatre on Saturday 5 September.
