Q & A with Matt Whelan
What is Brad’s focus in series three?
Brad’s focus at the start of the series is really all about Britta. They’ve only got eyes for each other. He forgets about the rest of the world because he’s having such a good time with her. Then there’s a major bombshell and Brad doesn’t know how to react. I guess he just has to go with the flow and do what he thinks is right which he always aims to do. Aside from that, his quest is that he wants to travel the world.
How has Brad evolved over three series of GO GIRLS?
He still hasn’t found himself. He’s found aspects of himself and different things in his life that he really loves and has learned about but he hasn’t figured it all out yet. I would say he has become more relaxed. He does have a long way to go but he’s certainly more confident. He still has the same good heart. He wants to do his best and he wants everybody to be happy. He wants the best of all worlds but often that’s not achievable.
How does Britta help Brad find himself?
With Britta it’s very much about Brad feeling quite free and experiencing the kind of innocence that Britta has. He really likes that about her and the sense of being able to do and say what you want. He’s really enjoying the freedom that Britta gives him in and a whole new way of seeing the world.
What have the highlights been on GO GIRLS for you this time?
Hearing my name called out at the Qantas Film & Television awards for Best Supporting Actor. It was really overwhelming. It was just lovely and I was so thankful. That was a really cool moment of my year.
